Why Eat Mindfully?

Mindful Eating is a practice that involves being fully aware of your food, feelings, and hunger cues while eating.  It's about engaging your senses, eating slowly, honoring your food, being aware of your body's needs and reflecting on your meal.

That may sound unrealistic or impossible to you.

​

But I am here to tell you, it is absolutely possible and a GAME CHANGER to your relationship with food and yourself!

My name is Gwen.  Growing up, I was always a bit of a "tomboy".  I liked playing outside, getting dirty and being loud.  Laughing and being creative were always a big part of my emotional regulation and still are.

​

However, at that time I didn't know anything about "emotional regulation".  I was just being ME...and getting in a lot of trouble.  Others didn't always see my actions as "appropriate" ways to express my emotions.  So, I was labeled as "trouble" or "sassy".  

In my eagerness to avoid being disciplined I learned how to be a people pleaser and how to stuff my emotions with food and over exercising.

Overtime I lost my true self.  Who I truly am and was meant to be.

​

I was lucky enough to have stumbled upon a path of health & wellness (Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion/Wellness & a Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation) that brought me to understand "Mindfulness" and most importantly, MINDFUL EATING.

It took time and mentorship, and is still a work in process, but I was able to heal my relationship with food, my body, mind and spirit.

I started Single Step Wellness & Recreation as a place for people of all ages and abilities to come for connection, creativity, and support.

 

Wellness coaching and personal training are not things just for the elite.  They are opportunities to better your life that I want to make accessible to everyone!

 

With my Single Step Wellness Coaching approach, you, and your family/loved ones, will achieve more than you ever thought possible.  You will see that by breaking things into small, achievable steps, and having support to stay accountable to your goals, progress is within your reach!
